MIMETICS Co., Ltd. (CEO Hyung-ki Park) announced that it has been selected as an “Outstanding Startup of 2023” by the Suwon Urban Foundation and received the Mayor of Suwon’s Commendation for Contribution to Startup Promotion on December 7.

The award was presented during the “Meet & Greet for Incubating and Graduated Companies” event organized by the Suwon Urban Foundation Startup Support Center. The event aimed to foster exchange and capability development between established and newly founded startups.

MIMETICS is a startup providing skincare and medical solutions using biomimetic technology. Since its establishment last year, the company has received the Excellent Award in the LAB Startup 2023 IR category organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT. MIMETICS has also completed individual institution registration with the IRB (Institutional Review Board) for human studies, establishing the capability to conduct its own clinical trials for skin-based drug delivery technology and efficacy verification.

Currently, MIMETICS holds over 30 patents domestically and internationally. This year, the company completed four technology transfers from Sungkyunkwan University, securing five years of research data. Collaborating with the research team of Professor Chang-hyun Bang, who developed the core technology, MIMETICS has strengthened its R&D capabilities.

In September, MIMETICS signed an MOU with high-end beauty brand Panatis Co., Ltd., establishing a B2B collaboration model. This partnership aims to enhance skin penetration and active ingredient delivery of traditional cosmetics and cosmeceutical products, creating a symbiotic model that improves product efficacy. Following the ODM orders from Panatis Co., MIMETICS’ beauty products are scheduled for release by the end of 2023. Panatis plans to introduce MIMETICS’ products first to its VVIP customers and provide a range of customer-focused offerings, including beauty devices, home care products, and beauty programs, maximizing customer satisfaction.

CEO Hyung-ki Park stated, “MIMETICS’ technology enhances the performance of various cosmetic formulations and beauty devices. Our biomimetic-based skin penetration technology offers a differentiated solution that overcomes the limitations of high-energy or invasive needle-type devices. We plan to collaborate with domestic and international partners to create a new axis in the skincare market and generate synergies.”

Looking ahead, MIMETICS plans to begin angel investment in December 2023, expanding its role in the DDS (Drug Delivery System) market. Through symbiotic models with existing cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies, MIMETICS aims to address longstanding challenges in the industry, including skin penetration, absorption, stability, and efficacy.
